Project: 346 Gramatan Ave.

This modern Italian restaurant in Mount Vernon wanted to shed the dated look of the existing storefront façade. Right Path fabricated a custom wood storefront to give it a complete make over.

In order to update the storefront and create a much sleeker and more contemporary feel in line with the character of the restaurant, the existing façade was demolished, except for the brick which was faux painted to mimic granite.

The new look features a clean, crisp black and white color scheme with, black frames and muntins surrounding the panes of insulated glass in the custom fabricated wood window and door system.

The most striking feature of the new storefront façade design is the bi-folding door system. This allows the restaurant to open out onto the street front in warmer months. However, for the cooler months, the glass had to ensure that the restaurant and its patrons would be well protected from the chilly temperatures outside.

One of the challenges was to have functional bi-folding doors that were not too heavy, yet no so light that they did not provide adequate insulation. Tempered, 1" low-E Argon glass was used to accomplish this goal. The doors were crafted from Sapele mahogany and painted black using Benjamin Moore semi-gloss exterior paint.

The hardware used features a custom made pipe door handles in satin nickel, including bi-folding door hinges, mortised locks and kick plates. The light color of the hardware complements the dark frames and echoes the color of the surrounding faux painted brick.

The renovated exterior blends seamlessly with the interior of the restaurant, with white table cloths, light-colored brick walls and flooring punctuated by black seating upholstery. These design elements create a cohesive unity which allows the cuisine to take center stage.
